Shotgun-wielding motorist arrested

Staff Writer

If you've got a shotgun riding shotgun, expect trouble.

Hesperia resident Jeremiah Glen Schreffler, 28, was arrested on May 3 after a witness called the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, after allegedly seeing Schreffler cursing at other motorists, then pulling a shotgun from behind his seat and brandishing it at another driver.

Deputy Frank Hardin stopped Schreffler's vehicle -- the witness having followed Schreffler and remained in contact with the department until authorities arrived -- and reportedly saw the shotgun on the passenger seat next to Schreffler in plain view. Approximately 20 shotgun shells were also reportedly near the weapon and within reach of the motorist.

Schreffler was arrested for possession of an illegal weapon and committing a felony while on bail and booked at Victor Valley Jail.
