Woman stabbed after throwing cake at roommate

Hesperia woman uses broken plate to slash roomie's hand

HESPERIA • A fight between roommates led to cake-throwing, a stabbing and the jailing of one woman, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Hesperia station officials said Tuesday.

Lisa Bowman, 33, of Hesperia was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon Monday after she stabbed her roommate in the hand with the shard of a broken plate, Susan Rose, spokeswoman for the Hesperia station, said.

The women, who share a home in the 16000 block of Pine Street, became involved in a heated argument Monday afternoon. During the fight the victim threw a plate with a piece of cake on it at Bowman. The plate shattered and Bowman was hit with the cake. Bowman then allegedly picked up a piece of the broken plate and attacked the victim, slicing the victim’s hand, officials said.

The victim called 911 and deputies Eric Getts, Scott Hert and Mike Cleary responded to the scene.

The victim was taken to a trauma center where she received stitches to a 5-inch gash to her hand.

Authorities arrested Bowman and she was booked into Victor Valley Jail.

Court documents show Bowman only has one vehicle code violation on her record.

It’s unclear what sparked the argument that led to the attack.
