Topaz Marketplace, at the southeast corner of Main Street and Topaz Avenue, has recently changed hands.

Businesses unaffected by purchase

Special to the Hesperia Star

The biggest purchase recently made at the Topaz Marketplace was the shopping center itself.

Topaz Marketplace was built in 2008 at the southeast corner of Main Street and Topaz Avenue. The 50,359-square-foot property sold this fall for $253 per square foot or a total of $13.5 million, according to real estate information company CoStar Group.

“Topaz Marketplace is the premier retail center along the Main Street corridor and features a diverse tenant base, including grocery, medical, educational and service uses,” Stephen Corea, senior vice president of acquisitions of TNP Strategic Retail Trust, the company that purchased the shopping center, stated in a press release.

The shopping center changing hands hasn’t affected things, according to Wood Grill Buffet manager Jose Vasquez.

“People were taking pictures prior to the purchase,” said Jackie Rodriquez, the manager of Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market, “however, the purchase has not affected me or the store.”

TNP may be in the market to purchase future properties in the High Desert area.

“We are always looking for quality real estate to add to our portfolio,” Corea said.
