The Wedding Photographer goes 1, 2, 3 at County Fair

The Wedding Photographer, a Hesperia studio, won the top three awards in the color wedding photography division of the 2008 San Bernardino County Fair with the studio's youngest photographer scoring his first professional win.

Associate photographer Paul Speaker, of Upland, won first place in the professional wedding photography division with studio owner John Kornachuk winning second and third. His son David Kornachuk, 18, won his first professional awards with two honorable mentions in the division. Nine photographers entered a total of 16 prints in the division.

"We're fortunate to have great photographers such as Paul shooting for us," John Kornachuk said. "We're also proud of David with his first professional win. The only photographers who beat him were from his own studio."

The studio has won wedding photographer of the years award from the Inland Empire Professional Photographers and Videographers Association the last 13 years in a row and had the top wedding portrait in the state in 2001.

This year's photography display was the largest ever, according to the fair's photography coordinator Joan Sowinski, with more than 600 entries.
