The Wiseguys

The Montebello-based big band has performed at notable venues throughout Southern California

Star Editor

The 18-piece big band from Montebello named the Wiseguys will bring their lively blend of jazz and swing to Hesperia on Saturday.

The popular ensemble features a horn line, singers, instrumental soloists and a groovin' rhythm section. Their material ranges from vocal favorites by Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin and Peggy Lee to big band numbers made famous by Glenn Miller and Buddy Rich.

The talented Wiseguys have become a popular opening act for major jazz artists such as Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Maynard Ferguson and Poncho Sanchez. They have appeared at The House of Blues, Whisky a Go-Go, the Derby, the Grove of Anaheim and other notable clubs and venues. They are also in demand at private parties and played at L.A. County District Attorney Steve Cooley's birthday bash and campaign fundraiser.

Perhaps their most notable appearance, however, was at the 47th Annual Los Angeles County Holiday Celebration, which was broadcast live from the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. The band also appeared on KABC-7's "Vista LA," KJLA's "LATV Live" and other TV programs.
