Letter to the Editor - September 14, 2007

Apple Valley

I would like to thank the newly elected board member for continuing the process of building new schools, a process started by Bruce Minton, Helen Rogers, Eric Swanson, Jack Hamilton, Nellie Gogley and Hank Richardson. If I may, I would like to comment on Hank Richardson's resignation.

People resign for a variety of reasons. They resign for health considerations, to spend more time with family, and for the purpose of retirement. Had that been the case, the board would have accepted his resignation unanimously. And, then there is another kind of resignation.

We tell somebody his services are not longer required. We pay off their contract and extend to them health benefits. We even offer them a letter of recommendation if they ask for one. The newly elected board's decision to fire Hank Richardson did not enhance their reputation, but in fact, their reputation has been diminished.

As I continue, import questions need to be asked. Does Lee Rogers really believe that the quite protest of a single individual is a rude disruption of a school board meeting? I believe a better example of a rude disruption is the termination of a school district superintendent.

Does Hardy Black believe that Dave Long, a person who belongs to his church, a man who called for his resignation and/or recall is an extremist? As Dr. Kirk was acquiring his doctorate, did a professor share with him that if a person had a different point of view he should be labeled an extremist? Did he teach the same concept to the students he taught over the years? Dr. Kirk knows and understands that the greatest extremist who ever lived, and still lives in the hearts and minds of millions of people, was a man named Jesus. Gandhi was an extremist, as was Martin Luther King Jr., George Washington and Abraham Lincoln were extremists. On a more local level, Dave Long was an extremist. Hank Richardson was an extremist and lost his job.

Bruce Minton and Helen Rogers are the two voices of reason and sanity on the school board. They have never lied to us, and they have earned our trust.

I would encourage district office personnel and administrators in our district to disregard the mass exodus of individuals who have left our district. Yes, I understand that you have seen the three misshapen faces of fear, trepidation, and intimidation in the hallways of the district office and on our school campuses. One day you will be asked to pick up the pieces and repair this district.

I would like to thank Jim Pace and the various negotiating teams for the salary and health benefits that I have received over the years. On the issue of salary and health benefits, we are on the same page. However, on the issue of the recall, we are not. You keep suggesting that the initiators of the recall should apologize. Mr. Pace, it is you who needs to apologize to the citizens of Hesperia. You and a small group of people hijacked the endorsement process. In doing so you tricked and deceived the people of Hesperia into believing that almost one thousand teachers endorsed the newly elected board. A significant number of teachers did not endorse them, do not endorse them now, and will not endorse them in the future.

Once again, teachers should become more involved. Make a sign, bring a sing, and hold a sign, regardless of your position on this important issue. Attend an HTA meeting and write letters to your local newspaper.

I believe the decision of the citizens of Hesperia to recall the newly elected board, is a noble and just cause. Your reasons for the recall are valid, and the list keeps growing each and every day.

We will benefit from the contributions that the new school board has made. At the same time, we will also overcome their miscalculations, errors in judgment, and their arrogant abuse of power.

Above all else, it is important that we respect the ideas and opinions held by individuals on both sides of the recall issue. If we do this, it will speak well of all of us.

Where Do I Vote, here is God's platform you have requested. " For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life" Thank God for the eternal life waiting for His followers.

Where Do I Vote, Pray, pray and pray. And before you pray, accept Jesus Christ as your only Lord and Savior. Many people seek for God only after personal tragedy hits their own home. Pray for the wisdom from God each every day for the choices we need to make. Where Do I Vote, today is your day to give your life to God and He loves you very much. May God Bless your tender heart. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

In the bible, great pride has gotten people in trouble with God. Is the Holy Spirit going to be on the recall ballot? You said you wanted to solve the problems his way. What is his platform? Does he want to hire a superindentant? Does he want to spend less money and build the high school sooner? Is he in favor of keeping open the 6th grade schools? If he is I'll vote for him.

JeB, all we have to do is include God in everything what we do with great pride. Let Holy Spirit lead us to solve our school problems in His way. We must submit to Jesus.

Friend, I have to admit I find your post somewhat offensive and blatantly against what you claim is love and God. Again, you don

I don't get it, we are not trying to influence anyone. But I am here to tell you that recallers need to embrace the gift of love instead of hate. Recallers need to give respect to others with different point of views. Love your neighbors.

Thursday, Sept. 20 at Sultana the union is hosting an anti recall meeting. The meetings are at 2 ten and 4 o'clock. Black Kirk and lee rogers will be there to answer questions. The union membership should advocate neutrality. I'm not sure if the Hesperia citizenry is invited, but it should be interesting.

Friend. WHAT? Please keep these blogs open for real debate about the issue of the recall. All the religious talk will only drive away those you might be hoping to influence. Do your witnessing somewhere else!

JeB,please do seperate between you and God from mondays to saturdays. Do seperate God from the public schools and bithday parties because YOU believe He doesn't belong there. Seperate God from the family activities and the shopping malls because your God only lives at your church. Very convenient way to worship God. Your God must be very lonely.

Your not a friend, and God's command does not bother me in any way shape or form. The point is that the recall issue is not religious. For me, it has nothing to do with hate. I have done nothing towards the three that would require me to seek forgiveness. I firmly believe that the religious postings are nothing more than an attempt to skirt the issue at hand. This is political, not religious.

JeB, if you are christian why does God's command bother you? "Judge not and you should not be judged. Condemn not and you should not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven" Just do what He said and you will be fine. Don't follow your own flesh.

JeB, read my lips. All I've said was " build a CLOSE relationship with God" I am not making a judgement about you! I don't care about your poor excuses because I am not offended by the fact that you are supporting the recall and I am not trying to convince you in joining my anti recall group. Because I do respect your opinion. But again, I think this recall will fail.

Teacher, you don't know me and thus have no idea if I have a relationship with God or not. Your making a judgement about me. You claim to not care about my poor excuses. Isn't caring about everyone part of God's teachings. The point was to show the inconsitencies with those who leave the religous rants. Thanks for the help proving my point.

JeB, the problem is you are not God. Second, your life is not in jeopardy by some 5 men at Compton. We don't need your poor excuses why you are supporting the recall. We really don't care and I am not trying to tell you to join our anti recall group. I just want you to build a close relationship with God because He loves you so much.

History teacher - Sep 17, 2007 04:39:31 PM Remove Comment

No, but it is a way to take attention away from the real issues. Forgive, don't judge. I'll bet if you ask any anti recall person who has posted the religious rants to walk down a dark alley in Compton with 5 males standing there they would make a judgement. I believe God wants us to judge what is good for our children and this community.

Have the three board members made clear well thought out decisions and listened to the public? Have they been consistent, and not been capricious or self serving? I think it's clear that these board members have not been good for the school district. That is on what I base my decision to support the recall. I'm not sure why some have began a religious debate. None of the three ran on a religious basis, did they? Religion is not an issue that makes sense regarding these circumstances.

Playdough, you are the prime example of failed american education system. Read your own bible, get your own information on the issues. You often rely on the wrong opinions provided by anyone on the street. The fact is I don't support this recall but at the same time I do not hate you because of your pro stance on the recall issue.

scriptorian, the tongue twister, Jesus was upset with the vendors making money at the holy church temple where people came to worship God. The sacred and the holy act was worshipping God. The three board members you are trying to recall were not using God's TEMPLE for their own profit. You need to go to their places of worship and bring us the evidence that they are using the temple for their own personal financial gain. Didn't you read the scripture by one blogger the other day? Jesus said "judge not and you should not be judged. Condemn not and you should not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. You might fall in to this category, I am afraid.
