About our freedom

SPECIAL TO THE HESPERIA STAR

As most of you already know, within a relatively short period of time, the Obama administration along with the Congress has taken control of most of the major banking institutions, General Motors and more recently the tobacco industry. Unfortunately, what lays ahead in the President's bid to completely transform our long established form of "government by the people" into a socialist state, is his plan to nationalize our health care system. If the President is allowed to continue on in his march to eradicate our liberties by flagrantly violating the rules of law held with our Constitution, I firmly believe that the individual freedoms that all Americans enjoy today may be forever altered.

As I look to the Congress and the White House, I too am thoroughly fed up with both of the major political parties. On one hand, in their goal to be accepted by everyone, the leading membership within the Republican Party seems content to wander aimlessly about in a desperate attempt to redefine themselves as to who they are and what they really stand for. Sadly, because of their indecisiveness and unwillingness to defend the Constitution, most all Republicans in Congress seem content to continue on their uncharted path by passively slogging their way through the same old game of "politics as usual." On the other hand, while the rudderless GOP gropes for it's political footing, at every opportunity, a prideful and arrogant Democrat Party, stands firm on it's brazen quest to trample upon the integrity of the Constitution.

As I see it, while the Democrat Party‘s actions continually portray disrespect towards the Constitution, the Republican Party, despite it's traditional conservative rhetoric, now appears committed to cowardly tip toe around it‘s authority as if walking through a pasture fenced in by political correctness and seasoned throughout by copious mounds of political "bull paddies." Through a continued fear of "guilt by association," with this precious document and by neglecting to stand firm on other strongly held traditionally conservative values, the Republican Party has indisputably fractured their conservative base. Feeling abandoned and forsaken, in the eyes of many bewildered conservatives they now see themselves as little more that "extra baggage" being cast aside by their once favored political party which no longer chooses to give voice to their core values.

Unfortunately, it continues to become more strikingly obvious to many Americans, that the primary commitment within the majority of both political parties is to continually entrench themselves even deeper into political power. Sadly, these elected officials have found it both politically justifiable and convenient to neglect the oaths that they all once took to defend the Constitution. Despite which political party you may be aligned with, like many of you, I cannot find one Democrat or Republican who is truly willing to bravely stand and defend the Constitution and the traditional values that have always made this country great. Consequently, many disconcerted Americans who love their country, now live with the foreboding that sometime soon, they may actually find themselves having to scramble for ways to actually defend their individual freedoms and valued traditions. As I continue to look upon both the Democrat Party and the Republican Party today, I see very little difference between the two of them, as they both appear to have given into out of control spending, massive government control and a concerted effort to ignore the wishes of most Americans, who are just fed up with the behavior of both the Congress and the White House. Democrats and Republicans alike, continue to selfishly act out as if to only to benefit themselves, while emboldened by access to unbridled power and aided by a never ending stream of taxpayer dollars in which they feel obligated to squander, whenever and however the mood strikes them.

As I talk to many of my friends and neighbors of either party, I sense a sincere anxiety within many of them, as they tell me of their concern, that the way that our country is headed, is not the American way and that they're not sure as to what and where all of this "hope and change," is leading us into as a country. Consequently, many Americans who have become disillusioned by our elected pompous and power hungry politicians are now taking steps through the likes of "tea parties," to stand up and fight for what they think is right for their country. Despite their frustrations, they remain committed in their search for someone in leadership, from any political leaning, who'll stand up for what's right for America based upon a commitment to follow the governing principals established within the Constitution.

During the past few years, there has been a great deal of study directed towards our founding fathers and what motivated them to put forth such astonishing and treasured documents as the Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence. While it's been well documented and agreed upon by most historians that most of these brave leaders believed in God, the one thing that is seldom mentioned about them, is that despite all of their humanist short comings, they still maintained within themselves an unbending trust and faith in their creator. I strongly believe that it was by their unwavering faith in God that led them to bravely step forward to forge these precious documents and through their decrees of freedom, the greatness of America was born.

We are a free people, but because we've been brought up and nurtured within a society that's always been able to freely exercise it's freedoms and liberties, it's almost impossible for most Americans to justly measure the freedom in which they live. I believe that the soul of America is found in it's freedom and that within the near future, all Americans will clearly find both freedom's meaning and it's measure through a struggle against the evils of greed and tyranny.

The love of freedom is much like the inspiration found in American patriotism. While it seemingly slumbers beneath the shadows of the every day lives of most Americans, it actually trembles within each and every one of us and with it's slightest nudge, awakens us to even the smallest threat to our creators gift of freedom.

As in the past, there will continue to be enemies who foolishly underestimate the power of our God given freedom. But, the strenghth of this gift will always triumph over mankinds greedy ambitions, for while it's within mankind's folly to only wink at a relationship with God, the power of faith held by most Americans lays in the hands of our creator, the author and giver of our freedom, who will always uphold His intended gift for all of mankind to earnestly seek, cherish and defend it.

Sociologist Beatrice Webb laid down the first blueprint of cradle to grave social security to eradicate poverty without toppling the whole social structure. She lived to see Beveridge promulgate her major ideas in the historic Beveridge Report from which they were brought to life in post WWII Britain and the United States. Fabian practitioners developed Hegelian principles which they co taught alongside Morgan bankers and other important financial allies over the first half of the twentieth century. By infiltrating all major media by continual low intensity propaganda, by massive changes in group orientations accomplished through principles developed in the psychological warfare bureaus of the military and with the ability using government intelligence agents Ive neglected to tell you so far about the role stress plays in Fabian evolutionary theory. Society evolves slowly toward social efficiency all by itself society under stress however evolves much faster! Thus the deliberate creation of crisis is an important tool of evolutionary socialists.

Bob Chandler isn't an employee of the Hesperia Star, and submits his columns to the paper the way any resident can. If you are interested in submitting a piece to the paper, call 956-7827.

The loss of our liberties has been occuring for years. The smokers lost the right to smoke in bars, but the bar owner also lost the right to allow his establishment to be a place for smokers to spend money. Every time we allow the government to establish laws that restrict our activities we get closer to socialism. Seatbelts and helmets do not stop the other car from hitting you, yet they save lives. Why make a law to protect those who do not want to be protected, I wear my helmet and seatbelt because i don't want to die not because its the law. Can't talk on a handheld cell phone but the law allows you to dial it by hand and talk on speaker, i feel so much safer now.

I would bet the vast, almost 100 percent majority of readers and contributors to the Koz are white. Anyone want to take me up on that?

First, to assume the postings here represent the majority is stupid. I could say something about the people who post here being the only ones witht he time to do so, but here I am posting here and i am a conservative business owner. What these psotings do explain is why so many people who live in the world of the online hesperia star have supported recalls, hoisted Bentley up as a hero and attacked HUSD, those who ran for city council and some who ran for school board. You are all liberal to the core. I did not say stupid, i said liberal. I will probably never agree with what most of you are saying and I will always hang on to the premise that there are more people like me in Hesperia than like you.

I did not read any mention of race, color, sexual orientation or religion. Did anyone? I guess hesperiareader is adding her own observations, biases and racism to her comments. Pot calling the kettle black? As far as other views, it seems I just read a few posts with your moniker on them. That was not you?

Dear bigot I got to thinking about your comment. Heres the thing, I have lived in this community for many years. Folks have been using foodstamps at Staters for years and their skin pigment is white. so spare me the ignorance.

That has got to be the most bigoted comment I have read. The local papers are doing the communit a diservice by allowing only one viewpoint period.

More diverse as in more welfare and ghetto rats. More section 8, WIC, food stamps and HUD. People driving in cars in 100 degree weather with the windows rolled down. Just pay attention to this cultural phenomenon. Young girls pushing strollers with babies down the street in the middle of the day, and not for exercise Groups of hood rats walking their pit bulls. Want some of your political slant to read? The Daily Koz is perfect for those of you who want something for nothing, want something from the taxpayer, are jealous of what others have obtained by their hard work and or education. Yeah we are more diverse.

On the subject of freedom, Apparently many residents felt the no fireworks law in our town does not apply to them . Last night was awful around my neighborhood, Loud illegal fireworks well into the wee hours of morning. Guess the telephone calls by the city went on deaf ears. My poor dog will need a week to recover.

cw, I could not agree with you more. The High Desert is becoming more and more diverse . I do not understand why our local papers insist on pushing a conservative idiology. I don't begrudge conservative thinking but I would like to read more diverse opinions in the paper. I believe the local papers are not serving the community well.

Reading these comments lets me know that the majority of high desert citizens are not right wing radicals. The paper needs to write news and views to reflect this.

Oh please. This is typical Fox news/right wing radio propaganda. Enough already.

The Right won't be satisfied until our children are working 20 hour days in dirty factories and our elderly are dragging their half-dead starving carcasses to the soup kitchens for a shot at some bone soup. Then they'll tell us what they tell us now which is that "no one is starving in America." They'd love to see us clawing each other's eyes out, licking our chops just for the chance to work for rotten scraps. The proponents of social Darwinism will never give up until they've made their sick capitalist utopia a reality. Therefore we, the People, can never give up. Get off the couch and fight against them today or be prepared to fight for your very life come 20 years from now.

Humanist shortcomings? I could understand this prejudiced point of view being allowed in a citizen's comment, but for the paper to endorse this makes it very clear where it stands. I'll bet Bob Chandler is a good old Limbaugh fan.

We need more government regulation to get us out of the mess Bush created. All citizens deserve health care, not just the ones on welfare or who work for a company that offers it. If the government doesn't regulate insurance companies they will continue to over charge and find ways not to pay for sick people's care. Why this scares people, I can't figure out. The government regulates police and fire services. Did you know that in our founding fathers' days the fire department would only put out your house fire if you had fire insurance? The fire engine would respond and, if your house displayed the symbol indicating you had coverage they would put out the fire, otherwise they would only protect nearby houses with insurance.
