'Hope and change?' Let's start now
As his presidency moves forward, I continue to be convinced that President Obama actually wants our country to fail, in order to abolish our free market system. I also believe that he is systematically carrying out a calculated plan designed to ultimately lead America into the total dependency of it’s citizens on big government. Pure and simple, I firmly believe that this president is a fascist/Marxist, supported by similarly like minded revolutionaries, who’s primary goal is to transform our freedom loving society into one which will ultimately be controlled and ruled over by a type of fascist aristocracy.
President Obama’s takeover of our free enterprise system reminds me of a “pac man” gone wild. By now most Americans realize that while acting in concert with some accomplices from both parties in the Congress, he has successfully gobbled up control of some strategic banking institutions along with major auto industries through a taxpayer funded bail out plan. Today, as he continues on his quest to take over and transform our competitive health care system, he is also endeavoring to limit our freedom of speech by regulating the Internet. Along with all of this, Obama is also taking bold steps to control even more of our personal lives through the insidious implementation of the costly and meaningless “cap and trade” bill that will soon be brought before Congress.
In one of his final speeches just before the presidential election, Obama told a stadium filled audience that in five days, he along with all of them would be in a position to fundamentally change America. Unfortunately, for all tax paying Americans the saddest and most demoralizing part of this statement is that what he was actually referring to was the unfair equal distribution of America’s wealth to third world countries. So, just what does the term “equal distribution” really mean and why should Americans feel obligated to give their wealth away? Well, if I understand our President correctly, it will be by the equal distribution of America’s wealth among the world’s poorest countries that will allow this country the opportunity to apologize to the rest of the world for causing most of it’s ills and problems. Conditions that were selfishly caused by America’s misguided desire to acquire it’s wealth and power through the manipulation of it’s evil capitalist system.
Step by step, our president and the Democrat held congress, with the help from some Republicans, continues to ram their socialist/Marxist agenda down our throats with limited attempts of resistance by members of either party to stop them. While every member of Congress has taken an oath to defend the Constitution, I have yet to hear about any one of them who has stepped forward to actually stand by their commitment to protect it. For the most part, they all appear to lack the intestinal fortitude to realistically stand up to guard our freedoms and as in the past, choose to remain in the shadowy depths of their comfort zones found within the game of “politics as usual,” that continues to provide them with a misguided sense of political power and security, accompanied by a thwarted sense of purpose.
If there’s one thing that most Americans are really sick of, it’s the game of “politics as usual.” They’re fed up with the meaningless rhetoric that flows effortlessly from the mouths of almost all politicians and especially those who refuse to defend the Constitution and abide by the principals expressed within the Declaration of Independence. As Americans, we are no longer enamored with either political party, because, we see little difference between either one of them. If any of these elected officials were sincere in their promise to defend these treasured documents, then they should be quick to stand up to stress their noble cause before the Congress and the rest of the Country.
Recently, I heard someone say that in 2010, we should just vote out all of Congress and start all over again to get rid of the corruption and greed. This noted commentator also stated that after we’ve elected someone into office and then they disregard what they promised during their campaign, then we should immediately vote that person out of office after their first term has ended. Personally, I don’t think we should wait until 2010 to demand that the members of Congress do their jobs by defending our freedoms. In my opinion, any government elected official who refuses to do so, should be voted out in 2010 and never again be considered eligible to run for any office above the position of dog catcher. As it currently stands we already have an ample supply of liars in Congress and in the future, America certainly doesn’t need more of them in service to our country, who outwardly appear to take an oath, but instead lack the character or intestinal fortitude to uphold it.
Sadly, among many Americans, Obama’s message of “hope and change” is changing into a message of “doubt and mistrust,” as our nation falls further and further into dept with each measurable grab at our cherished freedoms. While President Obama’s version of hope seems to be centered around his faith in the power of bigger government, the hope found within a free society is dependent upon the ability of the individual to express himself freely. The defense of this type of individual freedom must be made at all cost, if we are to remain the strongest and most benevolent country on earth, the United States of America.

| We have a President now who talks frequently about the importance of an education to lift people out of poverty and to take responsiblity for their lives but still find a need to bash him at every turn. |

| I know the figures. I see the people with their own eyes, I talk to them. Some are my neighbors. I know many are scamming the system. I am not blaming the poor and truly needy and I am certainly not sticking up for corporate abuse. I am stating that the welfare state as set up by the democrats has ruined generations of people. These folks have no drive or hope except for what shows up on their EBT card or a welfare check in the mail. I believe they are better than that and given the opportunity would show that. You and your liberal friends love people being down and out and dependent on government. That is the only way dems can get elected, along with screaming about soaking the very people that pay the way for those less fortunate. It is you who needs to broaden your horizons comrade. And I do not mean toward Cuba, Venezuela or Moscow. You aleady have that covered. |

| RPB, you are sadly misinformed and frankly are parroting the typical bs about welfare , comments like your help to perpetuate stereotypes and myths about welfare receipients in this country. Since you are so concerned about the subject may I suggest you actually broaden your intellect and research the topic. You might find that much of your perception is based on years of conservative lies. |

| Interesting that Welfare is worrying some here instead of the massive giveaway of taxpayer money to the defence industry and corporate welfare. Guess it is easier to blame the poor. |

| What brings the democrats votes are continuing to give welfare and make entire generations dependent on them. Just go to Winco or Food 4 Less around the 1st of the month. You will see generations of people who haven't and by the looks of them could not work a day in their lives. This is what decades of failed democratic welfare has wrought upon many people. This is what the democrats and Barry O want. People dependent on government for survival. How sad to see human beings so low that they feel the only way they can survive is by government handouts. Shame on the democrats who have perpetuated this crime on these people. |

| Barry O got his chance. People trusted him. Unfortunately the true commie in him came out as well as he being over his head for this job. The policies he has and is setting in place will continue to fail. Barry O. One and done. Sounds so good. I can't wait for 2010 and then the finale. 2012. |

| Politics, a subject that brings out the worst in people. We can hide behind screen names and attack the minority community but lets not forget the Republican party who stand on their soap boxes complaining about welfare, wink, wink, but would they change anything NO because it stirs up their base. Brings them votes, Get it. Reminds me of a joke I heard once. There are two types of Repubs, The Millionaires and the Suckers. |

| And Bill Clinton before him. Barney Frank was in the mix as well.
In reality the problem started with LBJ and the Great Society. Generations became dependent on their government check. Their mailbox was their way of survival and the dums love it that way. Barry O is leading the charge for even more income redistribution and government dependency. Also you conveniently forget the decades the dums controlled congress. Nice try though. How is that change working out for you? Unless you got your welfare check, food stamps etc increased, the rest of us who pay real taxes, not just sales tax, are heading for big trouble. |

| By the way it was George W. Bush who pushed for more minority homeownership, if you believe that is a bad thing then I suggest your problem is with the GWB and his administration who turned a blind eye to the profit and greed in the mortgage and housing market. Google GWBs speech to HUD . |

| So lets see Republicans have had the power for most of the past 30 years, have nearly bankrupted this country with their policies and it is the black peoples fault that their city is in ruins. Of course only those people are ingnorant, not people like you who blame all our problems on the poor. No wonder the republican party is in a pickle. |

| mojo Of course you neglect to mention that most large cities in trouble have been run into the ground by big spending liberal policies and dumocratic politicians. That failed dumoctaric policies has cause generations of poor blacks to have no hope and only look at the mailbox for their government benefits to ssurvive. That the dumocrats in congress forced banks to lend to people that had no chance to pay back their home loans contributing to the economic crisis. We have seen liberal dumcratic policies when Katrina hit. The biggest national shame was not our governments slow response. It was seeing generations of people with no education, skill, hope drive or ambition. All because of big liberal welfare programs. Barry O is trying to take this nation down. I guess you side with him. Neither he or your side will succeed. BTW Nice column Bob. |

| I see the welfare moochers are now using the libraries computers to post here. Wanting something for nothing. First, free food including your children being fed at school. Cash welfare benefits, section 8 and other subsidized housing, free health care. You about have it all? What else can the hard working taxpayer do for you? Don't tell me the junk about how hard you work and pay taxes blah blah blah. Paying sales tax on your Red Bull, Bud, cigs and hair extensions doesn't cut it. Pathetic |

| Dear Republican Whiners, You had the White House for 22 of the last 30 years, Congress for 12 of the last 14 years. And this is the result,
An economy on the brink of depression. Thirty years of lassezfaire economic policies that have failed in every country they've been tried. Two wars fought to a quagmire. Trillions of dollars of debt. Americas image in tatters. One of our greatest cities in ruins. Healthcare costs spiraling out of control. Stagnant wage growth. Snowballing unemployment . Gee thanks, We will give Obama time to fix your mess. |
