ADELANTO — High Desert's Shane Brown continued his torrid pace at the plate with three hits and four RBIs as the Yardbirds celebrated their 8-5 victory over the Hollywood All-Stars on Sunday night with a Fireworks Extravaganza.

The Yardbirds (24-15) won for the second night in a row thanks to 13 hits, and Brown was again leading the way. He homered for the second night in a row, a two-run shot in the second inning that helped High Desert race out to a 7-1 lead. Over the past three games, the first baseman is 9-for-12 with 10 RBI and is now batting .424 on the season.

Second baseman Dominic Zaher also got into the act in the second inning with a two-run triple that helped the Yardbirds build an early lead. Zaher also finished the night with three hits.

High Desert's Cody Culp benefited from the Yardbirds' generous run support as he gave up five runs on eight hits, but was still able to improve to 4-1 this season. The Yardbirds' bullpen also gave their struggling starter an assist by shutting out the All-Stars on two hits over the final three innings. Red-hot reliever Zach Williams earned his third save of the season by striking out the side in order in the ninth. Williams has not allowed a run while striking out 16 batters in only 7 1/3 innings of work.

Hollywood starter Mark Demko lasted only 1 2/3 innings giving up seven runs on eight hits in his debut on the mound for the last-place All-Stars (9-27).

The Yardbirds continue their homestand Monday night as they battle the Bakersfield Train Robbers at 7 p.m. at Adelanto Stadium.
